2. The Information Regulator’s guide
The Regulator has compiled a guide on how to use the Act. It is available from the Information Regulator (South Africa), JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg; inforeg@justice.gov.za; inforegulator.org.za.
3. Records held
- Customer records: account details, guardian consent records, purchase and payment records, learning activity.
- Company records: statutory, financial and tax records; supplier agreements (Supabase, Vercel, Paystack).
- Content: question bank, explanations, video lessons (copyright).
4. Records available without a request
The public website, the terms of service, privacy policy and refund policy.
5. Records available under other legislation
Records available under the Companies Act, the Consumer Protection Act and POPIA, as applicable.
6. How to request a record
Complete Form 2 (Request for access to record) prescribed under the Act, available from the Regulator’s website, and email it to myk53academy@gmail.com. Identify the record, state which right you wish to protect and why the record is required, and provide your details. Fees are as prescribed in the Regulations. We respond within 30 days.
7. Processing of personal information (POPIA section 51(1)(c) and (d))
Purpose: providing an online learner’s-licence preparation service and related payments. Categories of data subjects: customers (including minors with guardian consent), guardians, suppliers. Recipients: hosting, authentication and payment processors listed in the privacy policy. Cross-border: data hosted in the European Union under contractual safeguards. Security: encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, separate storage of answer keys.
